Changes within University Services

The University Services Office has been wound down as organisational division with effect from 1 June 2020, and its operations and co-workers transferred to other units within the administration.

The reorganisation is part of the university’s objective to design an organisation based on the requirements of the operational units, to optimise the use of resources, and to ensure a steady supply of expertise. It is also a consequence of the conclusions reached by the Efficiency Enquiry.

Among the changes are:

  • The University Services Office has been wound down as an organisational division within University Services.
  • The finance services offered by the University Services Office have been transferred to the Planning and Finance Division.
  • The HR services offered by the University Services Office have been transferred to the Human Resources Division.
  • The Legal Division has been renamed the Legal and Management Support Division.
  • The management support previously provided by the University Services Office will be provided by a new office created in the Legal and Management Support Division, named the Management Support Office.
  • The post of head of administration at the University Services Office has been transferred to the Human Resources Division.
  • The acting director of administration has been appointed as acting head of unit for the Management Support Office, until a permanent head of unit has been appointed.
  • The Procurement Office has been transferred from what was previously the Legal Division and become an office in the Planning and Finance Division.
  • The director of administration has been commissioned as departmental head of the Legal and Management Support Office.
  • As support for the university board, the vice-chancellor and the university management, a post with staff function has been created, assigned to the chief legal adviser in combination with other tasks as chief legal adviser. In this way, better conditions will be created to ensure a favourable administrative structure and ensure the availability of a certain amount of specialist expertise.
  • No changes will occur in the University Directors’ Management (UDL).

“In recent years, University Services has been the target of some slightly larger organisational changes. The objectives of the changes that have now been made are to obtain a more robust internal organisation, optimise the use of resources, and create an even better pool of expertise”, says University Director Kent Waltersson.
