Award of the Gilén Scholarships
Christer Gilén studied engineering at LiU in the early 1970s. Now, over forty years later, he has set up two scholarships for engineering students at his alma mater. The first awards will be made on 25 October.
The donation of SEK 100,000 by Christer Gilén was incorporated into the LiU Jubilee Foundation, set up in 2015 during the 40-year jubilee of the university. The donation has resulted in the Christer Gilén Scholarships for the best thesis or independent work carried out as part of a master’s degree in engineering – one in the area of economic governance, organisation and innovation, the other in statistics and machine learning.
The first awards will be made on Friday 25 October at 1.15 pm in Studenthuset, Campus Valla, when this year’s scholars, Goutam Bhat, Emma Berg and Cecilia Josefsson, will present their master’s theses. Christer Gilén will be at the ceremony himself, and hand over the scholarships of SEK 10,000 each.
Everybody is welcome!
