Updated language guidelines
An updated version of Linköping University’s language guidelines is now available at “Inside LiU”.
Separate Swedish and English guidelines have been combined, since most people at the university now communicate in both languages.
The previous version of the guidelines was published in the spring of 2014, and it was decided to publish an updated version now for two reasons. Some important structural changes have taken place since the previous guidelines were published (the most important of which was the change of name from “Hälsouniversitetet” to “Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences”), and LiU has changed its graphic identity.
Translations of new positions and titles that have arisen during the past three years are now included in the guidelines. Further, the translation of the Swedish title “docent” has been changed, since the previous translation (“reader”) had been criticised by several sources. The deans and the director of human resources have therefore decided that the word “docent” is to be used in English texts, a convention that is becoming increasingly common in Sweden.
