Career centre to close
Following a decision by the University Management the Career Service Centre is to close.
“There are currently many external organisations that offer an equivalent career guidance service to the LiU Career Centre. In their decision of 9 June the University Management stipulated that all programmes and professional training courses should be “samverkanssäkrade”, meaning the collaborative perspective is optimised.
The decision stipulates that the centre will cease operating at the end of the year.
The work of the Career Service Centre has been directed towards students about to take the step out into the labour market, providing career advice, CV checking and lectures. The Career Service Centre also takes care of administration of the jobs portal LiU Careergate, under a contract which will expire in May 2017.
They have also been involved in the LiU mentorship programme directed at international master’s students from countries outside the EU with mentors from regional employers. The decision stipulates that the need for support for international students at LiU will be investigated further.
