Local IT support

The Device Management Office in the IT Division works with local IT support. We offer support, help and advice for all steps in the lifecycle of a LiU device – from purchasing to decommissioning. IT support is in general offered to all co-workers who have an IT account of grade “Large” or higher (see Information about IT subscriptions).

We currently offer all departments (or equivalent) IT support for LiU hardware. The areas we support include:

  • purchasing of IT equipment, and its installation and configuration
  • delivery of hardware and its on-site configuration, in collaboration with the co-worker
  • on-site support for all LiU computers running the Windows, Mac or Linux operating system
  • on-site support for all LiU telephones running the iOS or Android operating system
  • help with decommissioning hardware such that it is dealt with in a secure and environmentally sensitive manner.

Loan equipment

In addition to support, we have a wide range of equipment for loan – everything from adaptors, keyboard and mice to laptops and projectors. See what is available for loan here (information in LiUdesk, login required).

Start-up aid, and help in lecture theatres

To people who teach at LiU we offer start-up help, which means that a technician is available during the lecture and ensures that the technical equipment works as it should. We also have technicians who can deal with acute equipment problems that arise before or during a lecture.

Technical support for events held remotely

Feel free to contact the IT Division for help technical help with large events held remotely, such as thesis defences and conferences.

Additional contracted IT support

If a department (or equivalent) requests IT support for equipment or services that are not covered by the usual financing, a contract for additional IT service can be taken out. Example of this are department-owned classrooms, research environments and laboratories, and support for account management.
