Temporary accounts can be allocated to visiting research fellows, visitors and others upon presentation of ID. There are two types of account: guest accounts and series of accounts.
Note that temporary accounts can be used on eduroam, but will only work at LiU. Temporary accounts will not work outside LiU.
All staff holding a LiU ID may create a guest account themselves, for use with Netlogon. The guest account has a user name in the form liuid00-guest-1, where liuid00 is replaced with the LiU ID of the person creating the account, and the last digit (1) comprises a consecutive number.
The period of validity for a guest account can be chosen from 1 to 14 days. The person who creates the guest account can close the account early if the guest leaves earlier than expected or there is reason to suspect that the password has been breached.
The website for creating guest accounts can be found at:
Note that all computers connected to the LiU network must be updated with security patches and be protected with antivirus software. Guest accounts can be used on eduroam at LiU (but not outside LiU) by appending "@guest.liu.se" to the user name (e.g. liuid00-guest-1@guest) and otherwise following our instrukctions for configuring eduroam.
Occasionally during conferences, meetings and other events, more than one account is needed. In this case, series of accounts may be specially created for the relevant event.
When placing the order, please provide the following information:
- Name of the event
- Suitable abbreviation that can form part of the account name
- Number of accounts needed
- The first day that the accounts need to be valid
- The last day that the accounts need to be valid
- The person in charge who will be available during the period and mobile number or similar
- The name and address of the person to whom the accounts shall be delivered.
Conference accounts may be requested by staff and students. Others who need conference accounts must identify a sponsor at LiU who endorses the requesst.
