Crisis support

Work environment management primarily involves preventative measures but also measures to reduce the consequences of an accident, acute illness or other serious incidents. Although measures are taken to prevent accidents and other serious incidents, it cannot always be avoided that people fall victim in different ways. It is therefore important to be in a state of readiness for immediate care and for appropriate treatment to be given to victims as quickly as possible.

At Linköping University, there is a central Crisis Management Group in operation for the entire University. In each Department/equivalent there is local Crisis Management Group, read more under Crisis management to the left. For each workplace in the University, it is important to be prepared not only to give first aid in the event of accidents and illness but also to meet the physical and social care needs of employees and students who in different ways fall victim of acute crises, accidents or other serious incidents. This can reduce the suffering and prevent absence due to illness.

The need for crisis support may exist for both those injured and those present at work accidents, violence or threats of violence, the death or illness of a colleague or student as well as accidents and disasters. In the event of serious incidents, Managers are responsible for arranging crisis support for affected employees and students.
