P4 – Extensive restrictions

Active pandemic with large effects on LiU activities. Extensive restrictions.

  1. Distancing
    At least 1 arm’s length, preferably 2 metres.
  2. Estimated group size
    Maximum 50 for necessary components, otherwise maximum 5-10.
  3. Presence on the premises
    All unnecessary presence is to be avoided.
  4. Average physical presence, relative to normal
    20%.
  5. Access
    Locked for the general public with the exception of the library and Info Centre opening hours. Registrar available as specified by routine. Access for students and co-workers as under normal conditions.
  6. Work on LiU premises
    Severely restricted. People work alternately, subject to adaptation to requirements, group size and distance.
  7. Meetings
    Only absolute necessary physical meetings that cannot be held using remote methods may be carried out. All other meetings are to be digital.
  8. Service-related travel – domestic
    Only when absolutely necessary. An assessment to be made by head of department or equivalent person.
  9. Service-related travel – foreign
    Only if absolutely necessary, and within the framework of recommendations from the Ministry for Foreign Affairs. An assessment to be made by head of department or equivalent person. During planning, consideration is to be taken to the possibility that the travel may be subject to recommendations from the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, or the restriction and quarantine provisions of other countries, such as when transiting through such countries.
  10. Communication
    Broad and targeted emergency communication through established emergency channels. Reinforced capacity for internal and external communication, with regular updates of the crisis-focussed website. Clear communication from the crisis management team. Demonstrate a clear direction.
  11. Crisis management
    The crisis management team to be activated through a directed decision.
  12. Lunchrooms, coffee rooms and personnel rooms (social spaces)
    People to be present alternately, subject to adaptation to such factors as group size and distance. Seats to be placed at greater distance from each other.
  13. Cleaning services
    Adaptation to such factors as presence on the premises and areas with increased risk of infection, according to need.
  14. Teaching
    Physical components with high priority may be carried out on campus with adaptation to distance and group size. Other components are to be held using remote methods.
  15. Examination
    Exam components with high priority may be carried out on campus with adaptation to distance and group size. Other exams to take place using remote methods. An assessment to be made by the faculties in collaboration with departments and other faculties.
  16. Education in the workplace
    As specified by the host, based on risk assessment.
  17. Independent study on LiU premises
    Severely limited, only components that require presence are permitted.
  18. Exchange students travelling abroad
    Following recommendations from the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and insurance conditions imposed by the Legal, Financial and Administrative Services Agency. Any arrival or reception restrictions imposed by the receiving country or partner university must be observed. If strong advice against travel has been issued or if strict restrictions have been imposed that affect many of the countries in which LiU students normally carry out study or placements abroad, all study and placements abroad are to be cancelled.
  19. Exchange students arriving from abroad
    As specified by any arrival prohibitions in force. Special measures relating to visitors from affected regions. LiU is responsible for providing information about the situation in Sweden to partners abroad and to visiting students. A dialogue with the Swedish Migration Agency is necessary. Short exchange visits from abroad are advised against.
  20. Commissioned education
    All components to be carried out digitally after consultation with the commissioner. Education that cannot be carried out digitally to be postponed.
  21. Events on LiU premises booked by students
    Only meetings that are necessary or particularly important for student life are permitted (annual general meetings, etc.). Student clubs and societies are to severely limit physical presence and make it possible to remain at a distance. The organiser must follow LiU’s currently valid guidelines.
  22. Outdoor events booked by students
    Only activities that are necessary or particularly important for student life are permitted (reception activities, etc.). Student clubs and societies are to severely limit physical presence and make it possible to remain at a distance.
  23. Reception activities (or equivalent)
    Limited presence, where people to be present alternately, subject to adaptation to requirements, group size and distance.
  24. Presence in labs
    Severely limited presence, where people work alternately, subject to adaptation to requirements, group size and distance.
  25. Data collection on site
    Physical components with high priority may be carried out on campus with adaptation to distance and group size. Other components are to be held using remote methods. Special consideration must be taken to research subjects and informants in risk groups.
  26. Research located off campus
    As specified by the host, with consideration of LiU’s restrictions relating to service-related travel. An assessment to be made and priorities assigned by head of department.
  27. Thesis defences
    The department must severely limit the number of people present and make it possible for them to maintain distance from each other. Persons in the audience may participate solely using remote methods.
  28. Conferences
    Only digital conferences may be held.
  29. External visitors (such as visiting researchers)
    Only high-priority visits. As specified by any arrival prohibitions in force. Special restrictive practices or consideration of restrictive practices relating to conference participants from specific affected regions.
